In my note of last week all right though the examination very hard It was a day of excitement for me as well as among the many who were candidates for admition to the University. About one hundred and fourty were admitted to the freshmen class out of about one hundred and sixty applicants. I cannot tell half the members of my class by site. The sophomore class begun the Anual war-fare upon the freshmen. When we entered the chapel we were saluted with the song which is annually sung for the benefit of the unsophisticated freshmen. Some of the new comers upon entering the chapel before some three & 1/2 or 4 hundered strange faces were so over come by the cries of fresh & the doleful song "Shake the freshmens heads of Shake &c. Nock the freshmens eyes out Nnock &c. [Gam] the freshmens nose in [Gam] th fresh- &c. &c. &c." that they hardly
