August 1" 1870 Dear Brother;- I have neglected answering your letter of the 16" ult until now thinking something more definite would turn up regarding money matters, but there has not. Dr. Fifield has $50 00 of my money which I lent him when I was home last winter this you can have and I don't see how we can manage without it Do not tell any body about this money. But you may tell Dr. F. that you wrote to me about money and I could not send it until the last of Sept. and although I hated to do it I said you would have to ask him for this to get ready with before you leave for Ann Arbor. I think when you go you can take a hundred dollars with you. I do not anticipate any trouble about the rest. If you desire it, tell me at once, and I will write to Dr. Fifield about this matter I wrote to mother a short time ago answering a letter of hers
