March, MONDAY 28, 1864 (Got marching orders today to move on the morning of 29th.. to Harpers Ferry. Had a dress parade in in front of Col Wells Headquarters and in the presence of Gen Averill. Orders countermanded.) Came off patrols. Rev M. M. Longley left for home to day. Chappel tent taken down because of marching orders. TUESDAY 29. On provost guard in Martinsburg commensed raining in AM and continued to do so until midnight when it changed to snow. Post in the Martinsburg jail. Chappel tent again pitched, in which Rev. Loomis conducted servises tonight. WEDNESDAY 30. Snowed all night and part of the AM. Came of Provost guard. Rev Mr Loomis conducted servises in the Chappel-Tent.
