Saving...
Forever float that standard sheet! Where breathes the foe, but falls before us, With Freedom's soil beneath our feet, And Freedom's Banner streaming o'er us? Burlington July 18th 1861 Dear father as writing seems to be the order of the day I thought I would write home and let you know what we are doing. I would have written sooner but there was nothing particular to write. we were not sworn in untill yesterday. we have not got our uniform yet. nor we do not know when we will leave here or where we will go to when we do leave. we expect to go some place before very long as there is to many of us here together for our own good although the health in the camp is good yet. I never felt better in my life
