and I guess they can I think the south will be abetter place for recruiting than the north from this on. well I must quit writing for the present March 19th.. well Henry this letter has been on hands for some time now but I have achance of sending it away at last as our boat is going back to day it set us off here about four or five miles above Savanna we didnt go to Florence as we expected. althoug we were pretty near there once we got alittle ways in Alabama we were floating up and down the river for two or three days reconnoitering around with acouple of gun boats in the lead when I said we I meant the fleet or the most of it at any rate They had scouts out all along the shore scouring the woods but they didnt find much resistance
