Chawalla Miss June 6th 1862 Dear Sister I believe I can do nothing to day to any better advantage than to write you afew lines to let you know that I am well and hope your are enjoying the same blessen but I hardly know what to write that would interest you. I know you have heard all about the story of Corinth and since the evacuation of the Corinthians there has nothing very funny hapened we have been moving from Camp to Camp staying a day or two or three days at aplace till we are now about eight or ten miles west of Corinth close to alittle town called Chawalla on the Rail Road that runs from Corinth to Memphis and from there to some place else I dont know whether we are going to Memphis or where, I expect where, there is areport in Camp that Memphis is evacuated if it is I dont see what they want of us there but I dont know as there is any calculations of our going there. I expect we will go this road as far as Grand Junction and clear out alot of rebels thats reported to be there then we will have possession of as much railroad road as there is any need of, it will not be long I reckon till we have possession of the Mississipp river and every town on it it seems to me their means of transportation is getting slim. we are cutting off their supplies by land and by water and closeing in on them at arapid rate I believe seceshion is almost played out I dont believe it will be long till we will have them all as we had Beauregards army at Corinth when we do I reckon they will give oer. the way we came on to Corinth there is not an army in the world that could have whiped us by attacking us. and the way we were attacking them gave them no show at all. our lines were so long that as we got near to Corinth we almost surrounded it we had
