Saving...
Camp 6th Iowa Memphis Tenn Aug 30th 1862 Dear Sister It is with feelings of the greatest pleasure that I assume the position this morning best adapted to writing you a few lines to let you know that I am well and hope these few lines may find you enjoying the same blessing. Jane you must not blame me for not writing oftener. it seems as though we have nothing at all to write about here. they keep us close to camp so we see nothing nor [almost?] nothing of importance only what comes in the papers. I cant even get a letter I have not had a letter from home for more than a month I get a letter from George occasionaly and once in awhile one from Ind John Hiteman got a letter yesterday
