Memphis Tenn Oct 11th. [1862] Dear Sister I seat myself this morning to answer your letter of Sept 21st.. I have nothing new or interesting to write but such as it is you are welcome to. we are still inside the breast works at Memphis and from present appearences likely to be for some time yet. the health in Camp is only tolerably good there is considerable ague around. but it has missed me so far. If the weather keeps as cool as it is this morning I dont think we will be bothered much more with the ague. yesterday it rained all day then cleared up cold and this morning is like some October morning in Iowa. from the tone of your letter it seems that you were considerably troubled about Henry's leaving and wanted me to tell you what I thought about it. I can soon tell you what I think about it. I think it was the best thing you could have done. for likely if you had done
