I was looking every day for all of the present rebel strong holds to fall. There has none fell yet, to my knowledge but I am still looking for it. I am looking for a letter every day now from old Abe that will give me all the information that I need on the subject. I have just been reading one of Artemus Wards letters it is the best thing I have read for some time he says it is [pooty?] plain to his mind that we are to have no peace as long as the fite goes on. He has been down to see Jeff Davis to try and get him to turn from his evil ways and to join the young mens religious association society. I will describe their meeting for it would take up too much time and I expect you have read it any how. He thinks Jeff dont set a very good table. He says the meat was amovin sight. Artemus hasnt much sympathy for the Copperheads but he has found out how they can be destroyed. Some fellow told him that they
