Saving...
Mississippi June 29th "63" Dear Father I have an opportunity this morning of writing a few lines though it is a very poor one. I cannot tell you exactly where we are nor what we are going to do nor when. All I know is that our health is good and that we are in the roughest Country I ever saw, in the vicinity of Vicksburg somewhere between the Yazoo river and black water. our Camp is at Snyders Bluff just below Haines Bluff on the yazoo river about ten miles northeast of Vicksburg. We left [this]? Camp early on the morning of the 23rd for a three days scout we marched in the direction of Black Water ten or twelve miles Our Regt is now doing picket duty on the extreme left of our army facing towards Johnson on the Black Water I suppose we are twelve or fifteen miles east and north of Vicksburg I dont know how long we will be kept our here I supposed we would either go back or have our Camp moved out here before this
