it will not fall for several days yet for storming the place is almost impossible we have men enough but the sacrafice would be too great. Starving them out is decidedly the easiest but it may take some time yet. We have a large army here so large that I am afraid the rebels will take advantage of our absence at other points The news here is that Gen Lee is in Penn now with his army if he is I hope he may never find his way back I must draw my letter to a close as I am about out of pen, ink and paper though from the looks of the writing most any one would come to that conclusion without my saying anything about it. I neglected writing when we were in camp and now I havent a chance to write a half a letter. however this if it reaches you will give you an idea of my whereabouts Oliver Boardman
