men just as competent in his own company as could be found in the Regt He tells the Co that he recomended him because the Col wanted him there. and when he is away from the Company he says he recomended him because he had not aman in the Co able to fill the fill the place. but we all know that neither of them is the right excuse First because it makes no difference who the Col wanted there he couldnt put him there without the Capts recomendation, or the Lieuts recomendation. whichever is in command of the Co In the next place we know there is men in the Co capable of filling the office although our presant Orderly as I said before is good enough apparently. yet there is men in the Company that are better scholars. plenty thats as good, and any amount that are as good Soldiers. The reason for his Serving us so is just this he was afirst Lieut then with a good chance of being Captain if he could keep on the good side of the Col and
