arrived from Scout. they left camp on the 17th in Company with the 6th and 7th Ill Cavalry. They were all that got back the 6th and 7th going through to Baton Rouge. We moved our Camp from the junction to Lagrange or within one mile April 27th We drew mules and saddles preparations to taking another Scout 27th drilled Cavalry drill 29th Left camp with 2nd Iowa, 4th Ill and part of the 2nd Tenn Cavalry. Traveled 40 miles Direction south east Country broken & thinly settled Camped near Ripley 30th Traveled 28 miles. Direction east of South Country very broken and thinly settled Inhabitants poor. Crossed the Tallehatchie about 10 oclock. May 1st Revelle 2 A.M. Started five. Traveled 28 miles Direction south east Country thinly settled but not so bad as the day before. Passed through asmall town called Chesterville about four oclock. Camped at five May 2nd Revelle 2 A.M. Started five. Traveled three or four miles. Came to and crossed
