July, Saturday 2, 1864 west end Kenesaw mountain Ga I was detail on picket guard last night I stood with in 3 rods of the rebles all night I have ben on the skirmish line all day skirmishing with them. our artillery played prety hard on the enamy we had 9 men wounded by our own Shell to day. Enoch Platt was severly wounded by a minie ball. the ball hit him in the left eye. I drew 1 pr. Sox to day [?] [Cents?] July, Sunday 3, 1864 In camp near Marietta Cobb. Co, Ga 1 oclock P.M. I was not relive untill mid night las. when I Come in I found the regt,, all packed ready to march. the 3th,,Brig,, 1st,,Div,, 14th,,A C relive us last night at 2 oclock last night we march out 2 miles and laid over untill 9 oclock this morning at Sun rise this morning. at our supprise we see the Stars and Stripes a floating on the top of the mountain. the rebs evacuated there posision at this point. at 9 A.M. this moring we march round to the left (Vertically, from bottom right:-) of the Kensaw mountain to the (Upside down, between the lines of main entry:-) town call Maryettee-- this is the pretiest town that I have sene in Ga. We got to this place at 11 oclock this A.M.
