August, Friday 5, 1864 5 Miles West of Atlanta there has been heavy Canonading all a round the lines to day, nothing more of note only we receive a mail to day I received a letter from Miss P.J. Brown August, Saturday 6, 1864 5 Miles West of Atlanta our brigade moved to the front this morning, we took up our posesion on the right of the 17th,, A.C. & left of 14. A.C. Co. C. was detail out as Skirmish to day. there has been heavy Canonading and Skirmishing fireing all day,
