miles to night Jen grant says he shal be in vicksburg to morrow 18 it is 12 miles to vicksburg. our army are marching in from 3 directions got within 4 miles of vicksburg there is lots of Scerishing going on it is 2 miles to get on the heights then we shal be on an even footing with them 4 shells burst close to us and we are a mile back from the front 19 firing comenced at 8 am a negro says they have 40,000 troops we have great confidence
