at the levey for new Orleans this is good news our forces have surounded Jackson we are going to lay siege to hit the same as we did to vicksburg 14 I am going out there tomorow Steels division is on the west side of town within 2 miles the lokomotives we took here we are rceving troops and suplies as far as black river our troops are advancing by diging trenches within 2 miles of town 15 the rebels took 5 wagons and 100 men by 16
