Tincture to Preserve The Gums & Teeth D. M. S Take tincture of Myrrh & rosewater an ounce of each, honey of roses four drachms, elixir of vitriol sufficient to give it an agreeable acid, dip a feather and touch the part four times a day. this gargle may be used for a sore mouth. A Saline Draught D.M.S. Take of salt of tarter or of wormwood, from ten to fifteen grains, or as much as you can take up with a sixpence, on which square the juice of a lemon in a cup; stir the froth about while it hisses, so tht the salt may be dissolved; then add a wine glass of cold water and drink it. Vinegar will do if lemon is not at hand.
