Receipt for Preventing the Fly in Turnips Take the quantity of two penny worth of horse-aloes and the same quantity of flour of brimstone; disslove these well in about three or four quarts of water. before ye turnip seed is sown, throw it into the prepared water, for about an hour, but not longer, this quantity of prepared water will steep five or six pounds of seed. There is no occasion to use the preparation in a wet season it is only in very dry weather that the Fly appears.
