Spice Cake 1 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup lard 1 " hot water a little salt 1/4 teaspoon cloves " " allspice " " cinnamon boil for about 5 min. let cool. 2 cups of flour 2 teaspoon of B. powder. 1/4 " of soda vanilla Spanish Rice 3 cups boiled rice 4 slices bacon 1/4 cup chopped onion 1/4 " " green pepper 1 cup canned tomatoe. Cut bacon into very thin slices crosswise and cook until lightly browned. Remove from pan and cook onion, green pepper in the bacon drippings five minutes stir constantly. Add tomatoe, simmer ten min. then add rice and cook ten minutes longer.
