Fresh Cake lbs flour, 1/2 lb of butter. 1/2 lb raw sugar. 1 lb currants. 2 teaspoonsful carbonate of soda, dissolved in a pint of new milk, seasoned with a little cinnamon & cloves. Let it lie before the fire for a few minutes, bake it in a pan. N.B. A few almonds are a great improvement. I.N. Scon A basin of flour, a pint of buttermilk, a small spoonful of brown sugar, a small dº of salt, & a small dº of carbonate of soda
