Fruit Cookies 1 1/2 c sugar 1 c shortening 3 eggs 1/2 tsp. soda dissolved in 1/4 c hot water 1/2 c sweet milk 1 tsp B.P. 3 c flour 1 lb. raisins 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp cloves & allspice 1/2 tsp nutmeg Cream the shortening. Add sugar gradually and well beaten eggs. Mix and sift flour, B.P. and spices and add to first mixture alternating with milk. Add the raisins mixed with a little of the flour. Lastly add soda dissolved in the hot water. Drop by spoonfuls on buttered pan and bake in a moderate oven. Vanilla Wafers 1/3 c shortening 1 c sugar 1 egg 1/4 c milk 2 c flour 2 tsp B.P. 1/2 tsp salt 2 tsp vanilla
