coat, buttoned up to the chin by silver plated buttons, (the coat and pants are both made of coarse dark blue woolen cloth) - a belt about the waist, and a pair of white cotton gloves. The Policeman, it is to be observed, like everyone else here, always has a clean shining pair of boots on, which adds much to respectability of appearance. In the evening, I went with Russell to St. George's Hall to hear the Grand Organ played by that distinguished musician W. [F?] Best. The Hall -- which gives name to the building containing it -- is splendid. With it's beautiful mosaic floor, it's richly polished marble pillars and balustrades, it's ten beautiful Gasaliers, each containing 150 burners, it's niches for statues, and it's oak benches, it impressed us at once by it's magnificence. And the Organ is worthy of the Hall. So large, that the bellows are blown by steam, it would thunder forth deafening notes and then [soar?] us as gently as a dove; affording sweet flute like music. It is beautifully gilded and tinted
