with shrubs, flowers, ponds [& no?] common attraction. As I left the Carriage path which surrounds the grounds, and strolled through the grand walks, catching the aroma of sweet smelling flowers, watching the movements of the graceful Swan, as she sailed through the transparent water, and admiring the fair Sun light, smiling on the scene. I felt as if I could sit me down and remain there for months. "God made the Country and man made the Town". Of a truth, it is so! June 4th I was introduced this morning by Capt [Zenga?], of the Arctic, ^to^ two young Americans, Mr. Slack and Mr. McIlvaine the former a cousin of my old friend Charlton Lewis, - the latter an acquaintance of my brother James. On leaving them, I visited an ^what was an^ old stone quarry, now St. James Cemetery. It is in the midst of the city, sunk considerably below the level of the street and very lonely. It contains a spring of water, also a Mausoleum to Wm. Huskinson, before mentioned.
