The Villas are very pleasant. There is much of the 'Rus in urbe' about them, but these Walls are very ugly eye sores to the passers in the streets and roads. June 9th 1856 I should have spoken of Birmingham Market. It is a very fine building, much better than either of the Liverpool Markets. Last Saturday night this Mart was crowded with the Work People. In this Market House every imagineable ware is exposed for sale. The eager buyers with the still more eager sellers make a lively scene. - This morning I started for London, stopping on the way at Rugby. At R. I saw the school where Dr. Arnold was once head Master. The boys were exercising in the beautiful playground, unterrified by the near presence of the Master with his gown and Oxford hat. A short walk of a couple of miles brought me to Bilton Hall, once Addison's residence. Near its' ivy covered walls is Addison's favourite walk. The growls of a surly mastif
