Recipe for Colouring Green - Make a Mixture by dropping Indigo into about a Gill of Sulphuric acid take about as much Indigo as Sul - acid - This may be kept in a bottle any length of time. - A light or dark green can be produced by pouring less, or more of the Indigo - To Crystalize flowers - Dissolve eighteen ounces of pure alum in a quart of soft water (observing proportion for a greater or less quantity) by boiling it gently in a low tinned vessel over a moderate fire, keeping it Stirred with a wooden spatula, until the solution is complete. When the liquor is almost Cold suspend the article that is to crystalized, by means of a strong thread from a stick laid horizontally across the aperture of a deep glass or earthen jar as being best adopted for the purpose into which the solution must be poured. The article should remain in the solution twenty four hours - When taken out, suspend them carefully in the shade until they are perfectly dry. When the subject to be crystalized are put into the solution while it is quite cold, the crystals are apt to be formed (continued on opposite page)
