the whites and lemon, Beat well & bake in pan, (this is something like sponge Cake.) Jelly Cake. Mrs. Gid Prugh Take 3 eggs, two cups of sugar, one of butter, 1 cup of milk, cream tarter 1 teaspoonful, soda 1/2 teaspoonful, ess. lemon 1 teaspoonful, 3 cups of flour Strawberry Short Cake Mrs [A M H?] 3 pts, of flour, with a pinch of salt, 1/2 teaspoonful of soda, 2 of cream of tarter, and 6 of baking powder, all mixed in the flour, lard the size of an egg, rub all well to gether, and mix 1 pt sweet milk in a soft dough, do not kneed it any, put on the board and roll out in a thick sheet, cut the size of a fruit plate, bake on flat pans. After they are baked take a sharp knife and split them open, have ready your strawberries over
