home. We were at Etts a few minutes, and Ira and I drove around to Esthers to take home a [illegible] I had borrowed of her on Sunday.

 It was a pleasant evening. I had a letter from Mother tonight.
                  Thursday January 21st 1873.
 To school today. In the evening when I got home I found the girls just finishing up the ironing. I did my share of it before supper. Mr Hess from Mason Co was here intending to stay all night; Ett was here and Tommy came out after her. They went home early to attend to the social at Mr Houghs. And most of the folks went from home. I did want to go terribly, But thought I could not share the time, As I wanted to finish my sacque ready to wear tomorrow night; I got it all done and my things all fixed that I want to wear tomorrow night.
The folks were gone till about ten oclock. And said they had a splendid time,
I had a letter from Charlie tonight in which he enclosed letters he had recieved from home.
The weather splendid for this time of year and the roads are good.
