these are the last words written by my sister Iowa B. Reed in her diary faithfully kept for sixty years. Hattie B. Whetstone the following is a copy of the record kept in a note book of a few subsequent days. Sunday January 26th 1936 a very cold day Hattie did not try to go out. Rob here all P.M. I felt very short of breath. In bed most of the day. Charlie Hedges died at 2.30 today. Cora down town. Wednesday January 27th [1936] No better. In bed all day. Dr. Ned here in the A.M. I had such a good long letter from Laura. Tuesday January 28th [1936] a very cold day. The three Swisher girls here for lunch. After they went home Alice sent me something nice for my supper. Charlie Hedges burial this P.M. Hattie and I sent flowers. I have not been able to go to the phone to talk to the family. A note with gift from Edith Rorntz.
