For the year 1974 [a "typo," should be 1874] Just a record of house work, company, sociables and school exhibition - for diversion. Late in July we went to Burlington to visit Brother Charley. who was located there from there to Delavan, Ill for a visit. Oct 11th she began teaching a country school - staying in the home of Uncle Jacob McCallister where there was a large family of young people this school extended into the next year -- For the year 1975 [a "typo," should be 1875] thru the winter. she spoke of much snow and sleigh riding. [with?] a company of neighbors the school was finished May 20th of this year - soon afterward work came that Father and Mother had been exposed to smallpox and Iowa came home immediately. the same [iilg] of housework of company and good times together in the family. In July she speaks of Mother and Hattie making a visit on Burlington and Delavan.
