202. Thursday June 21st 1877. It was a splendid morning but none of us went to Commencement. In the afternoon we all went. The exercises were splendid. But at the close every one was surprised to hear President Thacher in an affecting speech tender his resignation. As soon as we came from The Chapel Rob and I took a walk up to the Presbyterian church to see the ruin made by the falling of the steeple last night in the storm. We walked around awhile and got home just at supper time. Ray & May took supper with us. In the evening all hands went over to the Chapel. And from there to the store for Ice cream and strawberries. We had a gay time. Friday June 22nd 1777. They packed their things and got ready to go at eleven this morning. We all went to the depot and on the way stopped at the store for cream and strawberries.
