Monday, January 16, 1865. Left Memphis this evening in company with Miss Burnell and "Frank". Spent a very pleasant [eve?], Mary playing and the rest singing. Long sad talk with Frank over his"blasted hopes". When we went to our state room Mary led in prayer and I followed. It was a precious long to be remembered season. Praise to thee, O blessed Savior.
