Sunday, January 22, 1865. Mrs W- came at 3 A.M. We had not talked long till all the trouble came out. O how my heart ached. No more sleep for me. After breakfast while talking with M - could not keep back the tears. Wept and prayed together. Rainy without & very gloomy within. Indeed the dreariest day I have spent since Ortus died. But God will not leave us & I trust him.
