Friday, March 31, 1865 Mothers birthday is tomorrow but cant stay to enjoy it with her. She and Jennie and Charlie went to the depot and saw me off. Pleasant ride to Burlington. Left my basket at Mr Dees and went to Mrs D- for supper. Mr D- very kindly went with me to the Hotel & waited with me till the steamer came. Off on the Muscatine Clerk Parkhurs very kind. Reading my Bible till late.
