Tuesday, April 18, 1865. It seems impossible to do anything now. The murder of the President has so stunned everybody and the sorrow is so general & deep that work of any kind is entirely out of the question. Such sorrow our Nation has never before known Many prayers are offered for the new Pres' that, he may be strong & true.
