Wednesday, May 3, 1865. After a breakfast given by the Supt, took our seats on our trunks in a box car full of rebel officers. The country we passed through was wild and desolate. At 2. P.M. arrived in Wilmington. Mr Thomas welcomed us kindly and we were soon established at the Exchange Hotel - very tired with our long journey but thankful that we were through safe and well.
