MONDAY, MAY 15, 1865. Went with Mrs K & Miss H- down the Potomac to Alexandria. Saw them established in their work. Then passed the old Slave Pen. With Miss F- and Co' visited the Church where Genl' Washington used to worship. Sat in his pew and sent up a silent prayer to God. Then passed the Marshall house where Col' Ellsworth was shot. Dined at an ice-cream salon. Nice ride up the river. Eve made peace with two good friends.
