Friday, June 16, 1865. The day spent at Mt Vernon. Company very peasant especially Messrs S & W_. It is not in my power to write a tithe of the interesting things that we saw. Enough that we visited the tomb of Washington, stood in the room where he died, and trod the paths where he once walked. But the thought came, on western prairies sleeps one we love hardly less than Washington Lincoln is ours.
