Thursday, October 5, 1865. Wash day, but not strong enough to do much. Made Mandas gown on the machine P.M. busy till dark canning tomatoes. It makes me gloomy to have day after day pass and no time for anything but housework. Had to sit up very late to write to Mrs Darwin. Such a comfort to have Father at home again. Must get at something soon to make some money.
