Tuesday, October 17, 1865. Cold & stormy, but we were up early and at the ironing Went to Mrs B-s for milk & received a letter from Charlie from our old quarters in Nashville. How many thoughts it called up of one year ago. P.M spent writing a long letter Mattie. Sewed till the [restired] and then answered Charlies letter. A day of quiet and peace. How blessed such days are to me
