Wednesday, October 18, 1865. Sunshine & clouds today but all pleasant within. Manda read to me most of the day from Jean Pauls Life. Find it elevating and deeply interesting. Happily surprised by a letter from Williston, as full of fun as the writer. Wanted to attend prayer meeting but it was dark and muddy & could not go alone Sewed while Manda read to us. Work goes off nicely, and we have no trouble doing it.
