Friday, October 20, 1865. This A.M. came three good letters. One from Mrs Hamlin, one from Mrs W- and one from Mary [Dooley]. Very profitable and interesting. P.M went with Mother to prayer meeting, and it was indeed a precious season. Then to town and made a number of purchases. After tea, read the Hawkeye, and wrote at my writing for Mrs W- but too tired & dull to finish it. Retired feeling much nearer God than when I awoke.
