Friday, October 27, 1865. A very gloomy rainy day. All the forenoon spent getting ready to go to B- Capt W- kindly went with us to the depot. Found Mrs Williams all in a hurry and very busy. My heart ached when I saw M- looking so pale & suffering so much. Quite a pleasant talk with him. Up till late and enjoyed so much the talk with the family: How joy & sorrow are mingled in this life.
