Saturday December 15th 1923 Edith went to Pekin with friends today. I had a letter from Warner McCall asking for an address. I wrote him and got other mail ready. went up town for some things. Lydia up in evening and neighbors here. Sunday December 16th 1923 It was a fine day. Laura ad I walked to church and back again. I was busy getting mail ready all afternoon. Lydia up for dinner and till bed-time. Callers here. Monday December 17th 1923 I did some washing. Got more mail ready and went up town soon after dinner. I did some errands and called at Lizzie Duncans. A letter from Hatti8e. She does not know that she will go south. I was at The Central Station and engaged my ticket. The weather is perfectly wonderful for the season. Tuesday December 18th 1923 I got some more mail ready and packed my trunk before dinner. The man came for it before three oclock. I went right over to the depot and got my ticket and check ($87.23). Vene up town to see about her teeth Edith with her. We had supper early and Edith went with me to the depot for the 6.20 train east. I arriver at Mattoon before eleven oclock. Left at 1.23. Wednesday December 19th 1923 Slept well. A fine train with splendid service. The day passed pleasantly. Was at Birmingham Ala at supper time. went to bed early. weather fine.
