The spot on the cloth being first moistened with water, is rubbed with a cake, & allowed to dry. When it is well rubbed with a little warm water, & afterwards rinsed or rubbed off clean. Cure for a felon Take red lead, & castile soap, of each 1 tablespoonful, add weak ley sufficient to make a soft salve. apply on the first appearance of a felon. To clean & remove fly marks from gilt frames. First cleanse the gilding with the following fluid, using a camel's hair brush for the purpose. Water 1 pt. Borax 1/2 oz, carbonate ammonia 1/4 oz. Use the fluid freely with the brush, doing the frame in portions of of about a foot at a time. Let it dry by the ordinary influence of the air, but do not attempt to rub it with a cloth upon any account. When the frame is dry, those portions which are very much worn, may be restored by touching the parts with another fine brush, [illegible] with shell gold, that is sold by the artist's color - men
