To keep eggs Dissolve some [grown?] [illegible] in a sufficient quantity of alcohol to make a thin varnish, give each egg a coat, & when thoroughly dray, pack in bran or [illegible], the small ends downwards. After you have kept them as long as you desire, wash the varnish carefully off, & they will be in the same state as when they were packed, ready for eating or hatching. To remove grease from books Lay upon the spot of both sides the leaf, a little [magne?] or powdered [chack?], let on it a warm flat iron,. & as soon as the grease is melted, it will be absorbed by it or leave the paper clean. To take grease out Rub the place with bicarbonate soda & a little water, the soda will combine with the grease & [illegible] soap [ends?]. To clean out [illegible] [Illegible] your shelves down clean, & while damp put fine salt on them quite thick & let remain a while. Put a thin amount [illegible] carpets, salt & peper & moths will not eat them. To get rid of moths in carpets Have a pot of boiling water into which dip a towel, & wring out quickly; spread it on
