Cement for leaks. White lead paint, whiting, & white sand, put on about the consistency of thin Putty. Slater's cement for stopping leaks, is composed of linseed oil, whiting, ground glass, & some brick dust. It is a good cement for this purpose, also for closing the points of stone steps. To take mildew out of linen. Rub it well with soap, then scrape some fine chalk, & rub that also on the linen lay it on the grass, as it dries wet it a little , & after twice doing, it will come out. Insect Powder Red cammile rubbed to a fine powder, & mixed with any cheap divisor is the best insect powder known. Dust affected plants, & you may keep them free from bugs. Fly preventives. Flies have a great antipathy to walnut leaves, a wreath of which will in a great degree prevent their entering a room. Laurel oil is an abomination to them. If spread upon picture frames, it preserves them entirely from Fly spots. Walnut leaves boiled in water, & used as a wash for horses, prevent the flies from annoying them.
