Sunday January 27th 1918
It was very cold and stormy. I wrote letters most
of the spare time I had during the day. We sat around
the stove in the sitting room all the evening.
Monday January 28th 1918
Still cold.I helped some with the work and began some
covers for the dresser in my room. The lights went out
jist as we finished supper and we visited by the light of the
stove all evening. Vene had one lamp ready to use.
Tuesday January 29th 1918
weather more moderate. I was busy about the house all
forenoon. I went up town after dinner. I got a pair of
shoes and was down to Lizzie Duncans for a call. Vene
started the washing.I had a card from Mrs Sevier about Mrs Smith.
Wednesday January 30th 1918
I helped Vene some with the work as she was washing.
I was up town a little while in afternoon and we got
the clothes from the line after I came home. No mail today.
Thursday January 31st 1918
I wrote Hattie in forenoon and did some ironing. I had
a card from Warner McCall. They are leaving Biloxi and
may go home. a letter from William and from Hattie
and three papers from home. Vene had to go up town
in afternoon to get her insurance money. I ironed
most of the afternoon. very cold again today.
