Thursday July 9th 1914 Will helped me do a big washing before ten oclock. I got the dinner and rested in the afternoon. Edith & I went down to a lecture in the evening by Prof Bush. [no good?] Will to the races again today. Friday July 10th 1914 I did the ironing and some other work in forenoon. Will took Edith to the races and I went as for as Hatties. We spent the afternoon together and took supper at Otts. I came home at 8:30 and Edith who had been at Will Andersons an hour later. Saturday July 11th 1914 It was a frightfully hot day. We were all about house all day doing as little work as possible. Edith and I were down town a couple of hours in the evening. too hot to sleep. Sunday July 12th 1914 Will started to Cedar Rapids with Ott and the boys in the morning to get Williams dog but it looked so much like rain that they turned back. Later we had a nice shower. I was busy in the kitchen all forenoon. Slept most of the afternoon. Read some and talked with Edith. Monday July 13th 1914 Was busy with the work and a center piece I am making. Weather some cooler. Edith & I went to a lecture in the eve by Prof Shamburgh on The Amana Colony. very interesting. Tuesday July 14th 1914 I was at home all day. had letters from Ida and Nellie. wrote Hattie and sent them to her. Will Anderson came for Edith after supper to visit them a few days.
