38th preparation this afternoon and evening to leave for home tomorrow morning at four. We all bid him good-bye tonight. Wednesday April 1st 1874 I helped about the washing till nearly noon and then went to town for an hour. I got some muslin to make pillow cases. and began to work on them immediately after dinner. I had intended to sew in the evening. But as Father wanted us to I played whist all the evening. Owen and I against him and Winnie. I had a letter from Charlie today. Thursday April 2nd 1874. Hattie went down to Sanders today to see about getting a certificate to teach. Mother went with her. It took me most of the time to do the work as it was baking day. I helped Owen make bullets a little while in the morning. As soon as he had eaten his dinner he started off for a three days hunt. I sewed all the evening had a postal card from Charlie. Weather cold and windy.
